This is a blog I started after I moved up to Elim, AK and began my teaching career. Actaully I started this blog so I wouldn’t have to send mass emails to everyone after each adventure. I am a 4th/5th grade teacher in Elim which is about 10o miles east of Nome, AK (the Iditarod Trail comes right through my village). If you ever have any questions about teaching, the bush, or my adventures shoot me an email or leave me a comment I will try to respond quickly.

Nick Wilbur told me the dog sleds came through your village, of course I had to check that out. I have know a couple of people that worked the race. Also have watched extensive info on the race, care of the dogs, etc. So enjoyed that rest of your blog. I will keep checking from time to time. Bev
Hey Nick,
I’m an English teacher in South Korea now and stumbled upon your blog while researching teaching jobs in Alaska. If I take the leap, I’ll be going alone. How is the transition into the community? Do you recommend coming up with a friend, or is it relatively easy to integrate? I’d appreciate your thoughts-thanks!
