In most places when the snow starts to fall, schools quickly cancel for the day, and instantly start thinking about closing the following day also. Not in Elim. When the NOAA puts out blizzard warnings and its white out conditions (not being able to see buildings 50 ft in front of you). We make kids stay longer at school. Thursday afternoon my principal walked in and said, “its so bad out, that your class has to stay in the classroom at the end of the day, until their parents come and get them!” Next time your school is cancelled think of us in Elim going even longer.

Here is my class doing homework as they wait patentily for thier parents to pick them up.
It was so tough to see outside that day I had to get extra prepared just to go to school. Here is what I wore to school that morning. Carhartt overalls, and jacket, beaver skin hat, goggles. The head lamp was so I could see while digging out the dog house on my way to school.
