timber!!!

Last weekend Dianna, myself and Miles went out with a goal of 4 loads of wood.  With the great help of Dianna and her muscles we did make four loads.  Dianna has this strange way of after cutting the tree part way she perfers to put the chainsaw down and push the tree over.

Here is Dianna as she starts with the chainsaw and then in the second picture she disappears behind the tree and starts pushing.

After a lot of pushing and the yelling of TIMBER!! she inspects the stump.

We made our goal of 4 loads on Saturday.  It was a lot of work for Dianna who pushed over most of the trees, and it was a lot of fun for myself watching her push them over.

frozen river

The river has frozen over again and this past Friday I went out ice fishing with John, Anna, and of course Miles.  The fishing wasn’t great, but it was fun trying to pull fish out through the ice again.  I was able to catch one trout, which was good enough to make Miles happy.  He spent the time playing on the ice and licking the trout.  He also seems much happier that the trout are a managable size, compared to the Silvers we was playing with this fall.

scat on my desk!

For science last week I was able to get my hands on 6 different kinds of animal scat and 10 different animal tracks.  Both the scat and tracks were rubber molds but they scat had a nice color, and the kids at first thought it was real.  Here are some of the kids looking at the scat.

It doesn’t smell like scat!
