This year has been a year of many firsts for Elim XC and their coach (me). We have been practicing for 7 weeks. 2 weeks before we have started in the past. It was also the first day we could actually start (state rules). This we we started with 9 runners and are nearing the end of the season with 10 runners. Three varsity boys, 1 varsity girl, and 6 Jr. High runners. We are also going on our 3rd of 4 meets. To most coaches you would say 4 meets what? Our district will pay for travel to one meet and then regionals. I was able to talk my principal into another meet and then invited a teams over to Elim for another meet for us. This also means that I had to drive around on a 4 wheeler trying to figure out a 3.1 mile XC course. Well with little time to spare I got one. We will run it on Sat. and see how it goes. Heres the team loaded up on the bus??? Nope we travel in style we arrive by plane. Meaning I can only take 8 runners and we travel less then teams on the road system.

Its not the golf course, but whether its tundra, a gravel road or the sandy beach, at least its not snow. That can come in 2 weeks when the season is over.

Here is the boys varsity race in UNK, yup the kid to the far right is wearing jeans, and there is a kid wearing a wife beater also. All my runners where the short, short pants (running shorts) and jersey, even if they are so big the runners can barely keep them on (right). Jesse is one of my young runners wearing a small jersey…not much else I can do.

We did it again… here is my girls team (5th place) and boys team (3rd place) trophies. If you can figure out how one person can get 5th as a team, let me know I still haven’t figured it out. This is Elim’s first Girls XC team trophy, the Boys second trophy which brings my coaching trophies to a total of 3.
